It was in 1909 that the oldest cosmetics firm, L’Oreal, was founded. In the United States, Elizabeth Arden, Helena Rubinstein, and Max factor developed the market and were later joined by Revlon. Since then, many other smaller companies have gone into the cosmetic business making it one of the most lucrative in the world today.
